Make Make is a new studio led by Gary and Anna Bates. After 25 years of practice in our own firms in Europe—new build, urban planning, interiors, and adaptive re-use in the cultural, residential, commercial, hospitality, and public spaces realms—we have come back to the US to contribute to advancing social justice and sustainable urban systems.

The INCEPTION, a collaborative experimental book, which emphasizes a new way of thinking about authorship, collective creation, inspiration and ideas is now available worldwide.

Over the course of the 20th century, many of Riga’s industrial buildings have lost their original functions. This has left an abundance of empty historic buildings ripe for adaptation; an approach which is increasingly contributing to the Latvian capital’s reputation as a cultural centre, as creatives and entrepreneurs find new ways to repurpose the city’s existing assets.
