As its name suggests, L’Avenue is indeed an imposing restaurant — built specifically to impress, its 600 m2 can accommodate up to 260 people. Its ambitions are set high as well — the restaurant was aiming to be one of the very best in Baku, a distinguished example of French cuisine.
The concept, developed by Annvil after an on-site visit and competitor analysis, allows for an autonomous co-existence of two types of restaurant: the light-colored, ground floor dining area offers casual lunches, while the dramatic decor of the top floor houses a fine-dining restaurant. Ensuring a comfortable microclimate on the top floor posed a particular challenge, as the all-glass construction of the space creates the risk of overheating in the bright Azerbaijani sun.
The impression of the space created is that of a Mediterranean postcard — so authentic it might have been taken in France and so delightful it carries the unmistakable ease only a French holiday can have.
